On May 9th, as part of the #NASHAPKU charity project, the legend of the Ukrainian jazz scene – Igor Zakus, will present his new album “I’m Alive” and help raise funds for bone implants for our wounded.

Igor Zakus is an artist whose music is always exceptionally sensitive, often vulnerable, imbued with spirituality. For him, the melody that tells a story is always paramount; the sounds of electric and acoustic instruments laid over a colorful groove – this is the language through which he conveys his thoughts, speaks of feelings, and experiences.

As Zakus is an irrepressible optimist, his music is invariably bright, and even the saddest story he will tell with a warm smile. The quintessence of such a worldview of the musician became a kind of hymn to life, the album “I’m Alive” – extremely emotional stories, experiences during the war. It is faith, hope, and love that are able to resist evil, which fills the album. The music of “I’m Alive” gains immense expressiveness with new friends – performers who play with Zakus. They are not only true masters but also people who sincerely believed in this story, felt it, shared it with the author, and ultimately made it their own.

On stage that evening will be:
Igor Zakus – acoustic bass
Victor Pavelko – tenor saxophone
Dennis Adu – trumpet
Yuri Shepeta – piano
Konstantin Ivchuk – guitar
Dmitry Litvinenko – drums

#NASHAPKU – a series of charitable concerts by talented musicians and artists. The tradition was initiated at the Volunteer Center “Frolovskaya 9/11”. Its aim was to support internally displaced persons who fled the war in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine and to support volunteer battalions. Later, the volunteers of Frolovskaya established the “SVOI” Foundation, which continued to care for displaced persons with complex diagnoses, palliative patients, and systematically assist medical institutions. During the COVID-19 epidemic, the “SVOI” Foundation provided Ukrainians with oxygen concentrators free of charge. Now we face new challenges: helping the wounded, providing medical assistance to displaced persons and palliative patients. The team of the “SVOI” Charity Foundation helps to purchase bone implants for the wounded, assists hospitals with medicines and equipment, and continues to support palliative patients throughout Ukraine.

You can donate to #NASHAPKU virtually right now on the SVOI Foundation’s website: https://svoyi.org.ua/nashapku/
